An alleged Connecticut con man went the extra mile when, police say, he stole a car used to deliver Chinese food and then finished bringing customers their orders to collect the money for himself.

Keith Hinds, of West Hartford, was nabbed Friday in connection with the case, as well as for unrelated drug charges, police said.

The half-baked scheme occurred that same day, when a delivery driver told police in West Hartford that someone took his car while he was inside a local middle school, according to FOXCT.com.

The delivery man also called his boss, who in turn told the remaining customers on the driver’s route that their orders were canceled. But that was only after one of the deliveries had already happened, police discovered.

That led them to scout out other customers’ addresses on the route, NBC News reported.

Whoever took the car was apparently still making the rounds. Eventually, authorities traced the car to a customer in Hartford and nabbed Hinds, 45, as he allegedly filled another order.

He was charged with grand larceny, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and less than half an ounce of marijuana, according to reports.

FOXCT.com said he was being held on a $5,000 bond and must appear in court on Tuesday. The car was reportedly returned to the Chinese restaurant.
